Lavender was my very first essential oil. A friend gave it to me. I didn’t know what to do with it. I concluded that it was snake potion or witch’s spit.
Fast forward a few years, and I’ve used it four time today, for various different things. For this reason, it is one of my favorite oils. I like oils that I can use. I like spending money wisely. Morale of the story? I spent good money on my lavender essential oil. That makes me happy.
Before I jump into how I used lavender today, just in the past 12 hours, let me preface with something I wish someone had told me when I first seriously started looking at the “oil craze.” Our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made. They aren’t machines; they are works of art.
As masterpieces, individually crafted and designed, they respond differently to different things. You’re gonna see me say that I used lavender for sore muscles. It may not have the same effect on you. Rejoice in our differences and don’t be discouraged. Oils isn’t a cat and mouse game trying to find that “right” remedy. It’s a journey to know yourself better and the God that created you.
- Muscles. My wrist is sore from repetitive motion. Sore, as in, waking me up at night. Numbness. I tried wearing it in a brace, but, as a mom with an infant, what an unpractical contraption. I can’t use it. (I know, that’s the point.) This morning I put two drops of Melaleuca (Tea Tree) and Lavender together in my hand along with some lotion. Rub rub rub rub. I did that every few hours for 24 hours, and my hand is now brace-free. Praise!
- Burn. Last week, I bumped our french press and knocked boiling hot water and coffee grounds on my stomach. I immediately put lavender on the burn then to help with the pain. I reapplied some this morning to help with the healing process and scarring. Looking great.
- Hair. I really don’t know what Lavender does not hair, but I feel feminine smelling like a lavender field. It tames some of my fly-away hairs as I was running out the door.
- Rest. I was up last night with an unexpected energy burst and paid for it today. While Lavender can totally be diffused to help you (or your Littles sleep), I used it for rest today. Rest when I couldn’t actually stop and sleep. Calmness.
